Every dog that comes into our rescue has such a unique, special personality all their own. As a former pom-mommie I have a special kind of love for the breed. In looks, they are fluffier than a teddy bear with stout little bodies that are so much more agile than they first appear. Their eyes are tender and expressionate, their smiles goofy and mischievous yet innocent and loving. They have enough energy to play fetch at a park for a good few hours, and yet a calm enough nature to lay faithfully by your side while you watch TV or read a book. All in all, poms are especially known for their loyalty (aren’t all dogs?) and their devotion to their owners. They sometimes think they are fierce, barking sharply and repeatedly at a knock on the door to alert you of someone’s presence, and they seem to inherently know how adorable they can be when they spin in circles if you hold up a treat.
How do all poms seem to catch on to the “spin in circles” trick so quickly?!
Needless to say, when a Pomeranian comes to ECPR, I get all kinds of giddy and excited, and I have to carve out a bit of time during my day to go spend some time with them.
Right now, we have more than one fluffy little spinner up for adoption! First there is little Brody (pictured above) with his silly grin and his playful habit of nuzzling you with his muzzle (a nuzzle-muzzle! See what I did there? Okay, I’m a nerd.) Brody is a bit of an older gentleman at the ripe age of 9, but you would never know it by his energy and enthusiasm.
There there is this little Princess of Fuzz, Kiki! Kiki’s life philosophy is “girls just wanna have fun!” All you have to do is give her some scratchies or talk to her in an enthusiastic tone, and she is the happiest little dog around! This girl knows her tricks. If you ask her to spin, she gets up on her hind legs and makes a show out of it like a fancy little circus dog! I haven’t tried putting a little rubber ball on her nose to see if she can balance it yet, but I wouldn’t put it past her to be able to do that quite well! If she doesn’t know how yet, I’ll bet she could learn very quickly! She has such a sweet spirit, and is very eager to please. Making people happy seems to make her happy, and in turn that makes US happy – it’s an awesome cycle!
These two adorable love-bugs are both at our facility here in SoDo, and they are available for adoption! If you find yourself wanting a fuzzy little dancer for a life-long best friend, give us a call at 206 557 4661 to set up a time to meet them.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone. I know we will! (After all, we have fuzzy puppies to play with!)
