“How many dogs do you know that are working on their PhD? Well, my name is Lucy, so now you know one! “Sit”, “Down”, and “Roll Over” were fun, but now that I’ve mastered them I’m ready for even more! They tell me that I am a very good girl and very smart too, and even without my doctorate, I am sure to impress you with my big brain. But I’m no bookworm, either – I love to run and romp and fetch and tug, so if you are an active person too, we could really have a lot of fun together! When it comes to people, I vibrate with happiness because I love being close to them (and the hot dog treats in their hands). Hiking pal or study buddy, I can be both to you – plus a total lover, all included! I may not have a medical degree (yet), but I can tell the cure for what ails you is ME! Love, Dr. Lucy (soon-to-be) PhD!”

LUCY was just a Superstar on the News, check out her Q13Fox Debut!
On a personal note, I’ve had the privilege of hanging out with Lucy a number of times although I’m not a kennel attendant. I can attest to not only Lucy’s high intelligence but also her eagerness to learn. Lucy does present a few challenges, she is dog-reactive, but the staff works with her on her training regularly and she has made vast improvements. I have no doubt that with a family that is willing to continue her training, she will absolutely continue to grow into her full potential as the amazingly wonderful companion that she is, and truly wants to be.

Wahoo, today we kicked off the first of a group of summer events, the Starbucks Pet Fair! Emerald City Pet Rescue will be at Starbucks Plaza in Sodo (1st and Lander) twice per month throughout the summer on alternating Thursdays and Fridays. Joining us each time are a different assortment of awesome affiliates, and as long as the weather is good (today’s was beautiful!) there is nothing better than stopping by with your pet, grabbing them a treat, learning about animal rescues in the area, and more!
Today, we brought adoptable dog Merry Frost with us. She got to meet a lot of new people, she enjoyed a puppuchino, and more!
This 10 year old Chihuahua mix girl is looking forward to starting the search for her forever home in the Seattle area. Merry Frost is incredibly soft and gentle, with a graceful, delicate way about her that helps to show off her impeccable manners. She is also a fan of the mellow life, preferring cuddles and quiet time to a lot of unnecessary ruckus and adventure. When she isn’t enjoying a welcome round of butt scratches (one of her favorites) or some delicious treats, Miss Merry is busy charming the vet staff with her lovely personality and sweet, soulful eyes.
Merry can be vocal and should go to a house rather than an apartment or condo, and she would prefer a home with respectful children ages 12 years old and older. Because of this sweet girl’s low energy and mellow disposition, Merry would make a wonderful companion for a first time dog owner, or anyone seeking a snuggly lap dog to call their own! This little lady may be a bit gray in the face but don’t let Miss Merry’s age fool you – on the contrary, she is in great health and has many years ahead to share with a very lucky person (or two, or three)!

If you didn’t get a chance to stop by today’s Starbucks Pet Fair, don’t hesitate to mark your calendar for other dates throughout the summer! Fun in the sun, rescue pets, and treats for your pooch – what could be better? 🙂
This past Saturday, Emerald City Pet Rescue brought a few dogs down to a very fun event, Muddy Mutt in Carnation, Washington! We love opportunities to spread the word about our rescue and the wonderful animals we have available for adoption, but even more than that, sometimes we just want to have some down-and-dirty fun!
Sweet adoptable pup Olivia joined us for lots of outdoor romps, as well as our awesome ambassador dogs. There were props, hills to climb, mud pits to get dirty in, and lots of grass to RUN AND RUN AND RUN in!! Everyone had a blast! Olivia can’t wait to find a forever home all her own so she can have lots of outdoor times just like Saturday! Give us a call at 206 557 4661 if you’re looking for a very loving and high energy shepherd mix to romp in the dirt with!
Meet Woody the Cocker Spaniel, currently available for adoption at Emerald City Pet Rescue!
Woody is an energetic 10-month old puppy who LOVES to snuggle and play!
So far in his life, Woody has had very little exposure to the world around him, so he can be fearful until he gets comfortable in new situations.
Woody can be a bit nervous around new people, but all it takes to win his heart is a good treat. Then, he becomes your BFF!
Woody is learning to walk nicely on a leash. He is working on commands. Currently, he knows ‘sit’ and ‘down’.
Woody requires an experienced adopter with plans to provide lots of training and exposure opportunities. Woody will make the extra time worth it; he is a stunning dog with a loving personality. Woody does get along with other dogs as long as they are ready to play! Woody needs a home with no small children, but children over 12 years old would be fine.
Woody does get along with other dogs as long as they are ready to play! Woody needs a home with 12 and older due to his boisterous nature; like most young dogs he doesn’t yet understand his size!
If Woody sounds like the perfect dog for you, give us a call at 206 557 4661!
