Last Saturday, April 14th, ECPR had the privilege of attending a Jet City Roller Derby bout at Edmonds Community College. They were up against the Terminal City Roller Girls from Vancouver, BC.
The girls were kind enough to invite us out and introduce us, as well as the star of the show, ECPR adoptable pup Chewey! Prior to the bout, the girls visited our facilities and took photos with some of our adoptable dogs. The amazing Dirtie Dog Photography also came to take the photos! During the bout, they ran a slideshow of some of their photos with our featured adoptable dogs and introduced our organization. At the first half-time, Chewey and his foster momma, Linda, got to take a run around the track!
Chewey is one of our long-term residents. He came to us after an IVDD injury (Intravertebral Disc Disease) and could not use his back legs. He needed a wheelchair to get around.
With a lot of physical therapy and dedication, first from our ECPR staff and then from his foster mom, Chewey is now not only walking without his wheelchair, but he is zooming! We were so grateful that the derby girls gave Chewey the opportunity to “strut his stuff” and show the world what great progress he has made!
Chewey is still available for adoption. To learn more about his condition, his recovery, and our adoption process, give us a call at 206 557 4661.
Special thanks to Jet City Roller Derby, and Dirtie Dog Photography for teaming up with ECPR and taking the time to showcase our adoptable pets! We had an awesome time at the bout, and we hope that everyone there enjoyed learning about our organization and our wonderful rescue pets!

We love doing outreach events here at ECPR, it provides us with a wonderful opportunity to go out into our Seattle community and let them know about the amazing, adoptable pets we have available. It gives our dogs an opportunity to get out of the rescue, meet new people, and have a great socialization experience, and hanging out with dogs puts a smile on EVERYONE’S face!
Today was our first day doing a visit at Market Commons Neighborhood Center in Pike Place Market. We had four ambassador dogs with us, and also two sweet adoptable pups, Yella, and Harry! Both are sweet, cuddly, wonderful lap dogs who can’t wait to find a family to play with and curl up on the couch with. They were so happy to receive extra-special attention and lots of petting today! They were both curious and gracious in the new environment, they were eager and happy to meet new people, and we were very proud of how at east and friendly they were. They are wonderful dogs who will make excellent forever friends!
In addition to “Cuddle Visits” ECPR also offers Humane Education classes that range from after-school programs with very young children to extra-curricular High School programs.
If you would like a visit from ECPR at your school or Community Center, please contact our Education and Outreach Specialist at firstname.lastname@example.org
Finals is a busy time in a college student’s life, and ECPR was so happy to be able to help bring them some cuddly stress-relief by arranging for some of our wonderful, adoptable pooches to take part in a “De-Stress With Dogs” event today, hosted by the College of Built Environments
at Gould Hall at UW.
With us today was adoptable dog EUNICE
, along with soon-to-be-adoptable pups BENJAMIN, PEANUT,
. Also along for the fun were staff dogs Athena, Peaches, Lily,
– and a good time was had by all! Every single dog soaked up the love and attention, and we are confident that both dogs and humans benefited greatly from the cuddle-time they all got to spend together. It warmed our hearts that our dogs could bring joy to others, and in turn, the love the dogs received helped a lot to lift their spirits and remind them of how wonderful they truly are despite hard times they have had in their pasts.
It means a lot to us when we have opportunities to take part in our community and we appreciate the privilege of being able to bring some of our wonderful rescue dogs out into the world to help make the day for college students just a little bit brighter.
At Emerald City Pet Rescue, we have a wonderful Education and Outreach Specialist who is always up for the challenge of arranging all sorts of opportunities, everything from reaching out to schools and offering Humane Education lessons, to senior center visits, to de-stress events, and more. Please reach out to us anytime if you would like to plan an event with rescue dogs in attendance by emailing email@example.com
Also, don’t forget to check out our website
to view all of our adoptable pets! Eunice, pictured below relaxing on a blanket is currently up for adoption, and Benjamin (in the adorable hat) Duke (next to Benjamin), and Peanut (who couldn’t stay still long enough for a photo, but he is a 3lb terrier mix, cute-as-a-button!) will all be adoptable soon!
ECPR’s sweet bonded pair, adoptable pups Lark and Jigglypuff, had their TV debut last weekend! They were featured on Q13 Fox in conjunction with Pet Connection Magazine and Pawsitive Alliance.
They say, “There have been many love affairs throughout history – Antony and Cleopatra, Napoleon and Josephine, Peanut Butter and Jelly… and now the greatest of them all, Lark and Jigglypuff! That’s US! We are bonded in every way and love doing everything together, from eating to sleeping to romping to sleeping to cuddling to sleeping some more. We are both terribly shy at first, but with a patient approach and an available lap, you will watch us bloom into world-champion snugglers who love to share the love (with you)! We are quite quiet and sweet, and would love a mellow home to compliment our equally mellow energy, but small dogs our size are more than welcome (as long as they don’t hog all the treats, blankets, or affection). Let’s make this love one for the history books!”

Designed in Vancouver, Canada, John Fluevog creates boots, sandals, formal, and casual shoes for men and women. Shop online or find a store near you.
Every year on May 15, they celebrate “International Fluevog Day” which is John Fluevog’s Birthday. Every single pair of shoes sold on International Fluevog Day are sold at 15% off.
This year, the Fluevog store in Downtown Seattle wanted to partner with a non-profit for IFD, and they contacted ECPR! This was definitely a different kind of event, but we are always eager for any opportunity to spread the word about rescue dogs and how you can help them.
ECPR spent the afternoon at the Fluevog store with an information table, lots of Freebies for customers with pets, and a few dogs to be the “official greeters” as customers came into the store. What is better when walking into a store than to be unexpectedly greeted by happy puppies?! A wonderful time was had by the customers, the dogs, and our staff! We were very happy to have the opportunity to provide our Seattle community members with information on adopting a rescue animal, or donating and sponsoring animals that are searching for forever homes … all while trying on some awesome looking shoes!
Thank you for having us, Fluevog! We’re always thrilled to partake in our Seattle community!
